Indigo Cadet Program 8-min.jpg

Let me keep it as short as possible. For an Indian Citizen, following are the requirements to work as a Pilot in an airline registered in India.

Step 1: OBTAIN BASIC QUALIFICATION

a) You need to be atleast 16 years to get a SPL, 17yrs for PPL and 18 yrs for CPL.

b) Next is 51% in each of English, Physics and Maths at 10+2. Proficiency in English is an Integral requirement. Flight schools/ Airlines may conduct their individual tests to evaluate on any/ all of these subjects.

If you are with higher secondary groups that do not include Maths or Physics or both, you may acquire it separately through Open school/ Universities like IGNOU.

Step 2: GET YOUR MEDICALS DONE

Now, this is really important. Start with Class 2 medicals followed by a more stringent Class 1 Medicals from any of the DGCA approved doctors. You may refer to the DGCA website for information on their approved doctors and the various tests being conducted. Get yourselves Assured Medically Fit before you spent even a penny on Pilot training. Being consistent at your medical fitness is highly essential as long you intend to be in the line.

Step 3 : GET YOUR COMPUTER NUMBER/ APPLY FOR DGCA EXAMS

Start with your cpl ground classes in Chhattisgarh and clear the Dgca Exams.

It’s an Identification number at DGCA that is required for Pilot Examination Application. This is a single stage process:-

a) Application for Computer Number

b) Upload Signature and Photograph for approval.

You may refer to DGCA official website for Guidelines on How to Apply for Computer Number (pariksha.dgca). You will have to verify your 10th and 12th mark sheets. The procedure for verification varies with the board of study. It takes around 1.5 months to get the number approved.

Once approved, you are good to go with DGCA exams as and when the dates are being published on it’s website. Go to PARIKSHA DGCA for Exam applications. In India, it’s mandatory to give 5 different papers - Aviation Meteorology, Air Law ( Regulation), Navigation, Technical General/ Specific and RT ( By the WPC). I would suggest you to clear at least the basic three papers ( first three) before you start the CPL training. cpl ground classes in Chhattisgarh will help you with the knowledge to clear these exams.
